With the theme “Filipiniana,” one of the highlights of the ABS-CBN Ball 2019 was seeing the stars interpret the traditional outfit. Elegance and modesty are only some of the words that would describe a lady in Filipiniana. The best example being the image of Maria Clara. But times have changed. And who better to represent the modern Filipiniana than these Pinay beauty queens?

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach looked like a warrior goddess in her Ezra Couture piece. Miss Universe 2013 3rd runner-up and The Killer Bride star Ariella Arida was a vision in a white Marlon Tuazon creation. Los Bastardos star and Miss Universe Philippines 2016 Maxine Medina stunned in a Pablo Cabahug sheer white terno. Miss Universe Philippines 1999 Bianca Manalo, also known as Bubbles on FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano, was truly graceful in red thanks to designer Jo Rubio.

Meanwhile, Miss International 2005 Precious and The Killer Bride cast member Lara Quigaman was daring in a black lacey gown by Boy Kastner Santos. Los Bastardos actress and Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa made heads turn in a black Cary Santiago creation inspired by tribal tattoos of the Philippines. Miss Grand International 2016 1st runner-up and former It’s Showtime hurado Nicole Cordoves wore a red piece by Jaz Cerezo which combined her Filipino and Chinese roots. Miss World 1993 2nd princess Ruffa Gutierrez was gorgeous in a black and pink Vania Romoff gown.

Joining the fun and proving that age is just a number, Miss Universe Philippines 1967 and Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit star Pilar Pilapil was as lovely as ever in a blue and gold terno. And, of course, the first ever Filipina to win the crown of Miss Universe back in 1969 Gloria Diaz showed that she is still a queen.
