Kapamilya Toplist: Romulo’s victorious moments with Cardo in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano

Mary Ann Bardinas February 12,2019 12:18 AM

For five consecutive seasons, Romulo “Leon” Dumaguit (Lito Lapid) had been part of the top-rating and one of the longest running action drama series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. From the beginning of his journey as a warrior, he has showed us how greatly he loves his motherland by risking his life in every battle he fought for constantly believing and hoping for a better nation.

Just like how Romulo greatly loves the country and his fellow countrymen, he also has a selfless love for the people he holds dear in his heart, which includes the family that he found in Vendetta and his better half General Dianna Olegario (Angel Aquino). And that selfless love has let him accomplish the most heartbreaking yet inspiring act of all --- sacrificing his own life just to save his one and only love from dying. He has indeed proven how selfless and heroic his character is by never hesitating to shield the only woman he loves from being shot numerous times and getting killed using his own body.

With this, as we bid farewell to one of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’s great fighters, let us look back on some of Romulo’s victorious moments with the main hero Ricardo “Cardo” Dalisay (Coco Martin).

Given that Cardo was a SAF member before and Romulo was the leader of a rebel group then named Pulang Araw, their patriotic principles clashed at first. When Cardo was saved by the Pulang Araw after an encounter with them, he had no choice but to blend in and disguised himself as Fernan. Cardo started to be friends with Romulo and tried to learn from Romulo’s wisdom when it comes to battles.

As Cardo/Fernan gets to know the truth behind them, he then discovers that Romulo and his group are all good people and their bad image to the public was based on lies, which are orchestrated by the real corrupt rebel member and politician Renato “Buwitre” Hipolito (John Arcilla). Thus, Cardo chose to fight side by side with Romulo. One of the foes they defeated together are corrupted father Javier Enriquez (Jestoni Alarcon) and son Miguel Enriquez (Aljur Abrenica) who owned the Enriquez Mining and Industrial Corporation, which operates illegal mining methods.

When Cardo’s real identity was revealed, Romulo almost killed Cardo due to being hurt by his betrayal. But when Cardo told him the truth about Hipolito and Homer “Alakdan” Adlawan (Jhong Hilario) being the true enemies, Romulo made the good decision to form a partnership with Cardo as they both have one mission: to take vengeance by making Hipolito and Homer pay for their crimes.

Along with the remnants of Cardo's allies from prison and the surviving members of Pulang Araw, Cardo and Romulo formed a vigilante group named Vendetta which the two of them led hand-in-hand. With Vendetta, Cardo and Romulo annihilate the corrupt people who continuously hunt them while simultaneously spreading big time crimes in the country. One of those is the drug syndicate leader and politician Senator Mateo De Silva (Joko Diaz).

Recently, Cardo and Romulo fought hand-in-hand to end the villainy of Baldo (Rommel Padilla) and Tanggol (Joross Gamboa), the brothers who terrorized the people of a peaceful town named Sto. Nino for such a long time. The said town is the place where Vendetta found a second home.

In all those life and death encounters, Romulo has saved Cardo’s life several times and likewise, Cardo has also looked after him. Romulo is indeed Cardo’s most dependable partner whom he can win battles with.

Indeed, Romulo’s death is a great loss yet a great reason to continue fighting for the good cause.

We will miss you, Pinuno!
